About Adrian
Adrian Noble was the Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1990 to 2003. In addition to his theatre and film work, Adrian has also directed several successful London West End musicals including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Secret Garden.
In the 2022/23 season Adrian directed a new production of Verdi’s Falstaff for Gran Teatro La Fenice.
His most recent work in opera includes new productions of Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi for Teatro alla Scala; Verdi’s Otello, Handel’s Alcina and Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel for the Wiener Staatsoper; Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni for the Opéra de Lyon; Verdi’s Macbeth at The Metropolitan Opera, New York; Bizet’s Carmen for the Opéra Comique, Paris; Handel’s Serse for the Theater an der Wien, Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra for the Opera di Roma; Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte for the Glyndebourne Festival and Verdi’s Don Carlos for the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia.
