About Christina
Born in Thüringen, German mezzo-soprano Christina Bock has studied at both the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig and the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. Christina was a member of the Semperoper Dresden from 2014 to 2020, where she performed an all-lyric repertoire in the roles of Nicklausse/Muse (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Jordan Baker (The Great Gatsby) and Preziosilla (La forza del destino). After making her debut with the Royal Opera House as Page (Salome) and return as Wellgunde (Der Ring der Nibelungen), Christina has appeared at the Staatsoper Wien as Ottavia (L’incoronazione di Poppea) and Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus).
In addition to her operatic repertoire, Christina performs in frequent recitals and chamber music projects, including regular appearances with the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet.
Recent highlights for Christina involve her house and role debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper as Marya Bolkonskaja in their new production of Prokofiev’s War and Peace. She later returned to reprise the role and also featured in their production of Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov and Strauss’ Salome. On the concert stage, Christina featured in a concert version of Tristan und Isolde (Brangäne) with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and performed Grimgerde in Die Walküre with Dresden Philharmonie.
The 2024-25 season will see Christina feature in Ariadne auf Naxos (The Composer) in her house debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville,and will return to the Bayerische Staatsoper for Die Passagierin. On the concert platform, she will perform Schonberg’s Vier Orchester Lieder with the RSO in Berlin conducted by Vladimir Jurowski, Tristan and Isolde (Brangäne) in concert with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and will also feature as Mezzo-soprano soloist in Verdi’s Requiem with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.

Schumann Festival 2023
Tonhalle DüsseldorfJun 2023The mezzo-soprano Christina Bock did the only right thing: her style of performance repeatedly hinted at irony, but in such small doses that it did not thwart the hymn-like spirit of the songs. Her sustaining mezzo flooded the room magnificently.
