About Nicole
Mezzo-soprano Nicole Chirka was born in Kharkiv (Ukraine) and studied with Alexander Vostryakov at the National Academy of Music in Kyiv. Here, her roles included Laura (Iolanta), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro), Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Lyubasha in excerpts from Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride.
Nicole made her debut at the Kyiv National Opera in 2020 with her role as Olga (Eugene Onegin). Since the start of the 2021/22 season she has been a member of the Young Opera Ensemble at the Semperoper Dresden, with roles in Die Zauberflöte, Madama Butterfly and Rusalka. As a member of the Young Singers Project, in August 2022 Nicole made her debut at the Salzburg Festival with her performance of Glaša/A Woman (Káťa Kabanová).
In the upcoming season, Nicole will continue as an ensemble member for Sempoper Dresden, appearing in Mefistofele, Otello, La Traviata, Hansel und Gretel, Eugen Onegin and Das Kind und Der Zauberspuk. In addition to this, she will feature as a Flowermaiden in Wagner’s Parsifal at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl.
