About Sasha
Sasha Scolnik-Brower was recently appointed the first Bernard Haitink Conducting Fellow with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he assists Sir Simon Rattle and conducts the orchestra in various projects and concerts. In the 2023-2024 season, he made debuts with Staatsoper Hamburg (Die Fledermaus), Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, and Residentie Orkest in collaboration with the Dutch National Opera Academy (Il ritorno d’Ulisse). Other recent performances include Rossini’s La scala di seta at the Bredeweg Festival in Amsterdam, a collaboration with Jennifer Koh and students from The Juilliard School at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C, and Pierrot Lunaire at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York City.
Sasha has also served as the cover conductor for the New York Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Sasha is a graduate of the Juilliard School where he studied with David Robertson and of the Dutch National Masters of Orchestral Conducting where he worked with Jac van Steen, Ed Spanjaard, Kenneth Montgomery, and Antony Hermus. He was a conducting fellow at the Aspen Music Festival for two years for which he was awarded the Robert Spano Conducting Prize. Scolnik-Brower previously studied English and Music at Harvard University.
