Teatro la Fenice

Introduction

Askonas Holt are delighted to be working with Teatro la Fenice for the first time with a tour to South Korea in October 2024.

Founded in 1792, Teatro la Fenice enjoys a long and rich history as one of the jewels in the history of opera in the 19th century, serving as home for many important premieres including Rigoletto and La Traviata. The orchestra has collaborated with leading soloists including Mstislav Rostropovich, Edwin Fischer, and Arthur Rubinstein as well as some of history's most important musical figures such as Antonio Guarnieri, Richard Strauss, Richard Wagner, Igor Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein and Claudio Abbado.

Since the 1950s, the house has presented contemporary operas including Britten’s The Turn of the Screw and Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress and concert presentations including Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Riccardo Chailly and Britten’s War Requiem with Bruno Bartoletti.

The orchestra enjoys regular touring in Italy and further afield, and Askonas Holt are greatly looking forward to the orchestra's tour to South Korea in October 2024 under Maestro Myun-whun Chung.
